Feelin' Blue

Image
More blue.  All over the place.  I decided the hidden piece had enough paint on it to be acceptable from a distance, and went ahead and glued a couple of the pieces together.  I think it might be slightly easier to paint some of the details while the remaining two pieces are separate, but we shall see.

So I finally started back at getting some forward motion on painting.  Not much to go over here, but I can't complete assembly until the inner part of the Incarnate is painted.  I don't think I need to go too heavy on detail work here, as it will mostly be obscured. Paint is Colour Drop Sea Blue, with two drops of paint and three drops of SP medium, the drops are not the same size, so hard to give a normal ratio.  Washed with Talassar Blue Contrast in a 3:2 ratio with medium.  Highlighted with the a mix of paints, including some Holoscreen Teal Speedpaint and even a pure white highlight at the end.

We hates it forever!

Ok, I guess I don't hate it, but ready to move on.

Weely happy to be done these guys.

It's a stretch, probably should have put a bit more thought into this one. This unit could probably use a bit of highlighting here and there, but tabletop has been achieved, so i am moving on.

Bit and bobs

Image
So I did a lot of little things today, completing nothing.  I thought for a moment I had completed my shark by finishing the net launcher, but while taking the picture realized I had not done the base.  I did some Broadsword Silver on some weapons, finished some tassles, did some base skin, and cleaned up the overbrushing from the mettalic armour.  So just need to throw on some contrast leather and blue, highlight the skin, then complete the bases, and I will be done these two units, at least for now.

Hats and Prep work

Image
Lot of time, little progress.  More hat work, and also trying to prep the saddle and reins for contrast, but more coats will be needed.

Skin job

Image
So I finished the skin on the final eel.  Not a ton left to do here to get to tabletop ready.  I also worked on the helms of a couple of the last batch of riders I forgot about.

Can you see the difference?

Armour

Image
I went for a bike ride tonight, and wasn't feeling like it was the kind of night where I would work on eel skin patterns, so instead I finished up all the armour base coat.

Additioneel

Image
I didn't think I was going to get any painting done tonight, but was able to get some more skin and armour done on a second eel.  Well, not done done, but some progress. For the purpose of future me, in the unlikely event that I want to reproduce this colour scheme: Apres le zenithal, an underspray of Bakunin Neon, followed by Invincible Orange from the side, then Chung Kuo Skin from the top.  Then some more Invincible Orange from the side, to deepen the colour a bit.  Pattern was thinned Bakunin Neon, then along the spine fin a line of State Empire Pride Speedpaint, then once that was dry, a 1:1 mix of State Empire Pride to Speedpaint Medium over all of the skin.

Eeels are back on the menu

Image
Well, back to my orange palette, using the airbrush.  I tried doing some patterning, looks ok, better on the side that is showing, a bit too dark on the other.  Green armour, nothing mew here, other than a some progresss.

Army progress

Image
I did a bit of priming today, but don't see myself having any time for painting, so I thought I would post a shot of my entire Idoneth force as it sits today, before I head off on vacation for a week.

Paint by numbers

Image
Contrast and speedpaint tonight.  I am hoping to do some highlighting tomorrow, but in my mind I have written off this miniature, and I do not like it.  Well, the miniature is fine, I do not like how I painted it, maybe more specifically the colour choices are both busy, but also lacking in depth.

"Slow and steady wins the race" said no shark ever.

Man, this is really dragging.  At this rate it could be another week before I finish, and I am leaving town for almost a week on Sunday.  I would love to get this guy done before I leave. Applied some metallics, some Vallejo Dark Sand on the on the seating structure, and slapped a bit of white here and there for future slapchopping.

Sharks bite

Image
Well, back on the shark train tonight.  I did a wash of Contrast Space Wolves Grey mixed 1:1 with Speedpaint medium over all the shark skin.  It mostly worked how I wanted to, but I missed few pools, and a couple of bizarre splotches.  Nature is weird is what I will say if someone asks. I decided to do the seating contraption as some sort of whale bone, which I saw in a picture somehwhere, so starting by giving it a white coating. I also did the Topaz Skin/ Reikland Flesh shade work on the skin of the riders.
