Crew of the Flamin' Possum reporting to duty!

For today the Cogfort is on the menu, but I could see me picking away at the Allopex at the same time.  Although not today.  I bought some Obsidian Black True Metallic Metals paints for the armour. It is really black, which the name of the paint should have clued me in to, but for some reason I thought they would be a little less black.  I am using an old bottle of P3 Menoth White for the tunics with Agrax Earthshade over top.  Will highlight up from there at some point, but just want to block stuff in right now.  The jackets and coats will be red, Bakunin Neon mixed 1:1 with black to start, then working up through straight Bakunin to Gecko Armour. Pants are Runic Grey, boots are either Grim Black or Gravelord Grey, still can't decide which I like better. Should have finished a test model, but I am just going to go for it.


Ok, I felt compelled to add an update with the "light" Obsidian Black metallic added, and it does really brighten things up.  To the point where I think I was maybe a bit heavy with it.


I also just noticed that the sheet of decals does not have the words Flamin' or Possum, nor does it have any depictions of a possum in the images.  Disappointing.

    Any other rodents, marsupials, or armadillo? Or flaming poop, cause a flaming possum probably isnt too distinct in its distinguishing features after a few seconds.

    Unless it's flaming due to superpowers rather than being burned alive.

I wasn't feeling it for the old sharkie boy this evening, so I went back to my terrain piece.  Now that it was all brown, I knew I need to give it a black wash, but the thought of the cost involved was putting me off.  So I found a super cheap black wash recipe from Black Magic Craft, which in turn led me to an improved version he had done.  As it turns out, I had all of the required ingredients.  Blending Medium, Flow-aid, black ink and even water!  If I had to buy this, it would not have been a cheap wash, but as the monery was already spent, it felt free. Insert exciting picture of washed boat half that looks slightly darker than the other half.  This is a slow job, and the flow-aid was put in a bit heavy I suspect, as I am getting a lot of bubbles. I will give this a drybrush afterwards, to bring back some highlights, and knock back the shine.

 Not a lot done this weekend.  I could probably call this terrain piece tabletop ready, although it is far from being done.  I need to apply some verdigris, and paint the various fish, bottles, barnacles, and shells.  The overall paint job is a bit dull.  After washing the whole thing, I drybrushed it with a 1:1 mix of Tokai Grey and Brigadine Brown from Army Painter.  I did another lighter highlight with more of the grey, but really it barely registers.   After that it was Balthasar Gold from Citadel.  I am not sure if the Sigmar sculpture on the front is supposed to be wood or metal, but now it is metal.  I then tried AP Strong Tone for the first time.  It was not what I expected, and is very thick, with a slow drying time, so you could sort of move the shadows around a bit.  I liked it, and will use it again I am sure.
